LeSportsac's Shanghai Xintiandi store channels pure urban energy as a vibrant narrative, transforming retail into a tribute to New York's streets. Founded in 1974 amid NYC's hustle, the brand's lightweight nylon bags capture city life's rhythm, evolving into collections for urban exploration. This flagship marks the 50th anniversary with SI 1.5, an upgrade responding to the expanded product line of footwear, apparel, and accessories in China market, while weaving heritage into every corner.
Drawing from New York's iconic scaffolding, the design creates an open-plaza environment. A dynamic metal frame rises upward, interlacing expanded mesh into a semi-transparent ceiling that evokes skyline layers. Along the facade, it merges display fixtures, entry visuals, and lightboxes, generating a sense of urban motion and rhythm.
At the heart stands a newsstand, anchoring the space as both functional hub and storytelling portal. It blends POS with brand archives, inviting visitors to explore five decades of innovation. Front zones accommodate open displays: full-height wall frames and metal mesh flexibly showcase bags and apparel. Central concrete plinths and blue acrylic tables supports footwear trials in the form of landscape furniture. The rear fitting room, enveloped in rich blue with orange rails and parachute motifs, offers a playful sanctuary, balancing youthful energy against metropolitan edge.
Departing from the all-white minimalism of SI1.0, this new palette reserves white as canvas, amplifying product vibrancy. Grayscale materials ground the space in city grit: light grey cement walls nod to New York facades, while varied cement tiles across the floor introduce visual rhythm. Warm white metal fixtures and blue accents mingle with recycled tea-leaf panels, infusing texture and subtle aroma—proving sustainability enhances street authenticity.
This store honors LeSportsac's New York roots through layered urbanity. Scaffold-inspired structures and plaza-like spatial concepts ground the store to its urban context. Concrete, metal mesh, and recycled tea-leaf panels bring a contemporary yet tactile sensibility. Together, the newsstand, fixtures, and fitting rooms unite to create an engaging retail experience that celebrates five decades of brand creativity and evolution.
